Archaeology
The summer 2002 will be remembered by the impassioned ones of underwater
archaeology for the official opening of the underwater archaeologists sites
in the area around island of Levanzo.
Cala Minnola site deals with a load of amphoras (Greek-italic II° century b.c.)
what they make to suppose to the existence of the wreckage. The amphoras are
disseminated along all the run, while in the deepest point, -29 meters, the
more elevated concentration of crocks is found.
The second scuba diving point is characterized instead by a big
concentration of lead anchors in the point where it is supposed, that the
Roman fleet has extended the trap and then attacked the Carthaginian ships,
during the first Punic war. |

Archaeo-dive program The immersion on the archaeological site of Minnola bay normally effects him to the morning, in line with the availability of the custodian entrusted by the superintendency in Trapani. At the end of the dives he goes down in visit to the picturesque village of Levanzo for a walk or wanting a sandwich for then to ritch the second scuba dive site. The second dive is communicated only however the preceding day to the excursion because not the place of the anchors has always the sea conditions that the immersion allows. |
